Bethlehem

a friend of mine
God only knows
compared to quality
of clothes
or next to heavy
stacks of gold
protects my life
until I’m old

a friend of mine
unlike the roof
above my head
is living proof
from flood and rain
you kept me safe
a friend like you
can’t be replaced

when someone asks
what would I do
with my last dollar
what I’d choose
without a moment
I could say
I’d give it all
to you today

a friend of mine
no bank can hold
the kind of wealth
you cannot fold
from you did I
survive with wealth
from you I learned
to love myself
