I’m gonna fly away

One of these mornings
I’m gonna just fly away
like a bird with no warning
not a word left to say
when the winter has fallen
and the sinner in me
softly hears Jesus calling
honey that’s where I’ll be

It’s a window we look through
in the hearts that we hold
and two ears that wont listen
to the stories we’re told
like the dogs when they’re barking
in the coldness of night
and the eyes of my women
in the love of my life

Don’t you wonder about me
if you’re looking outside
in the nights before morning
when you think you can hide
I’ll be frost on the window
whispering softly I’ll say
don’t you worry about me
love we all fly away

One of these mornings
I’m gonna just fly away
like a bird with no warning
not a word left to say
when the winter has fallen
and the sinner in me
softly hears Jesus calling
honey that’s where I’ll be ©

I like the flow of this poem especially the 3rd stanza. Excellent.

    • I was having some time in my garage. A family of sparrows somehow dug enough ceiling out to make it their home. So they live under the floor of the level above…my room mates. While sitting and pondering, one flew in to come home… both of us surprised…it flew out. Actually it just flew over my head ,but tonight the light is off so I only heard the wings. Thank you ArVhee,
